Lois: 20 Months

I love this age. Full of personality… full of wonder with everything they see. Full of an energy I wish I had at MY age! Lois, you’re gonna be a heartbreaker someday with that smile and those big, blue eyes…

Hope for Haiti

This post comes from a deep place in my heart that can hardly even be explained by words. I had the incredible opportunity to go to Jeremie, Haiti this past November and serve alongside 20 other women at an orphanage for a week. The people of Haiti have made such a lasting impression on me. I went hoping to change a life… if even just one. I left realizing that I, myself, had been changed. The people I encountered have a joy that is contagious. They have nothing, yet they have everything. Here are a few of my favorite photos I shot on this trip…. enjoy.

These women are the ‘house mamas’. They selflessly serve as mothers to over 100 children, 24 hours a day. They are my heroes. They are the definition of love.

We brought along some donated eye glasses to share with the house mamas. This woman received probably her first ever pair of glasses. The joy that spread across her face when she first lifted the glasses to her eyes was something I’ll never forget. She had likely lived her entire life up until this point never truly seeing clearly… or even knowing it was possible.

I’ll post more photos from my trip another time. I’m headed back to the orphanage in Haiti again this November with the same team. Can’t wait to see these sweet kiddos again.

Thanks for being here!

Jess
